Two different worlds. Which is better; Patrick Leigh Fermor’s three volume walk through pre-WWII Europe or Rommel’s ‘Infantry Attacks?’ Both classics.
Unfortunately, my first exposure to Thucydides was in the original Greek. Very tough going. So, maybe I’m biased in picking Herodotus.
