Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,
There really is nothing new under the sun…
Banned Book Week starts today, a time for considering and celebrating works that have had the eye of censorship cast upon them over the centuries.
While it’s easy to think of censorship as a modern day issue, many great writers and philosophers of the ancient world had to contend with the restrictiveness of their times, including the likes of Ovid, Socrates, and Anaxagoras.
So what can that tell us about today?
Be sure to join us this week and find out at our very special event Ban the Book, Banish the Author. Anya will be joined by a line-up of distinguished professors and authors to discuss censorship in the ancient world, and what lessons there are to be learned from the past.
That’s on Thursday, September 26th at Noon EST. You can register for that HERE!
Can’t make it live? Register in advance and we’ll send you the full recording.
We hope to see you there! Now, check out this week’s resources just below…
