The topic of Free Will, I believe, is summarized perfectly in Proverbs 16:9:
“A man’s heart plans his course, but God determines his steps”
This is of course a great mystery. The best analogy I have come up with is the bridled horse. The horse has Free Will, but it also has a bridle and it understands the meaning of the bridle. If a horse is ridden by a man to a particular destination, one can ask the question “Did the horse arrive at the destination by its own Free Will?” The answer is No. The destiny of the horse has been determined by the Man, by the rider. But the answer to the question “Does the horse have Free Will?” is Yes. The horse may become defiant and go against the wishes of rider and bridle, but there are consequences. If free and unbridled, the horse may return to its barn of its own free will.
