When I was 16 my family went on a week long tour of italy. We spent half a day at Pompeii and barely scratched the surface. 20 years later I would still love to go back.

And there have been a lot of recent excavations that they were not able to do for decades because of ground stability. So if you go back, you will see even more.

The article on the Pompeii mosaics was incredibly interesting and freshened my memories of my Pompeii visits . Last month I visited Sicily and while in Agrigento was taken to Villa Romana del Casale near Piazza Armenia . This palace buried beneath mud was discovered relatively recently . Supposedly it is one of the most extraordinary palaces of the Roman Empire . Known specially for its unique ,magnificent, very well preserved mosaics which depict the every day life of the Emperors representative in Sicily . An absolute must for lovers of discovering the everyday life aprox 2000 years ago. J.Koppany
