Thankfulness for life's many blessings is never an outdated practice. Nor is enjoyment of family gatherings to enjoy traditional meals, to be looked forward to and remembered in later years. If the lore includes anecdotes of mythical and actual events, so what? Those stories never came up in any Thanksgiving celebrations I remember. People are more likely to talk about current happenings involving the people present. Learning that history is always a manipulate story to brag about the winners of conquests - usually for resources or gaining lands and hegemony - ought to become common knowledge that needn't be harped on on occasions that may otherwise be joyous. No?
Great post! I'm curious to see what people say!
I'm already getting very interesting responses!!
