I bought my last boat in 2007. She was a 61’ beauty that was so alluring on the outside but had some issues underneath the skin. Consciously I overlooked them in making the purchase decision. She would be a documented vessel and that required a name and hailing port to go with the purchase documentation. She would be rechristened ‘Siren Song’. I must have known subconsciously what I refused to properly consider in the broker’s office. Ten years and nearly a million dollars later I sold her at a considerable loss. She lived up to her name in many ways that brought the myth and the name I had given her to life. Siren Song indeed.
Almost 40 years in and I’m still not sure I’m not married to one.
Ha ha! But which version???
This was enlightening. Thank you.
Some of your faithful readers are hearing sirens now.

She may have cost you a fortune... but at least she made a good story??
Fascinating.
