I'm for Marcus. He had a fine seat on a horse. You can't ride well unless you are aware of the horse and its responses and fears. It's a transaction which requires respect for the other being.

Stoicism and it’s ideas actually assisted Vice Admiral Stockdale while he was a POW. Later, he taught a class on it.

How come there are no living examples of people who have embraced the views of the Cynics?

Do you mean historical examples of living people? Or people alive today? There are many who have embraced the lifestyle of Cynicism (which is was more than a philosophy) - some of which may surprise you! Have you watched our Podcast with Professors with Mark Usher? He explains it much better.

People alive today who have embraced the cynic philosophy. I will like to see the how they demonstrate their philosophy.

I think there are plenty... but they often operate outside of society and we don't really 'accept' them, sadly.

Philosophy as "love of knowledge" is different and cannot be lumped together with such practical intentional measure as portrayed in "what is to be done". Therefore, cynicism so as stoicism both fail as a traditional philosophy of "what is the case".
