And there I was for years assuming it meant that it was called 'Virgin' because it was a unique brand ie not mixed with any other oils, as many oils ARE ! Silly me ! IOW just another marketing ploy !

There is also the possibility of this name because Athena gave the olive tree to Athens as a gift, and she was a virgin Goddess.

It is an image, rather than text. But we don't usually do that! That is how it was submitted for April Fools.

For those with trouble with the image font, clicking the picture and turning my phone horizontally worked just fine. You can also pinch and zoom on your device, and though I've not tried it, I am sure you could zoom in on the computer. At least for me it wasn't too much trouble for a good chuckle.

I find it slightly puzzling that if the girl tended all the olive oil surely all olive oil would be ‘ virgin ‘ including the other 9/10 of plain old olive oil?(!)
