Anya, great essay as usual... Being an old Druid myself, I can relate and celebrate any all-inclusive introspection into what many may think are modern or Abrahmic customs...
Greks and romans was part or our civilisations. Cristianity is part of our life now. All Cristmas traditions do not come from "Crist", Jesus, but before him.
Thousands of years befor greeks ,romans or cristians our ancestors celebrate "The birth of the Lord ", " Nașterea Domnului", "Crăciunul" . The birth of the Sun. We celebrate from 7530 years ago on the 25 day of the 10 month "the first day that is greater than the one before". after six months.
Loved this read!
I knew there were Pagain influences in Chrismas celebrations - I just wasn't aware of the details. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
The Greeks invented everything! 😜
Fascinating read. And so much more than likely those festivals were influenced by ones lost to history.
Thank you!
So true! There was another summertime festival that was quite influential, but I had a lot less information on it.
History always reveals. Quite an interesting glimpse in to the origins of Christmas. Enjoyed the read.
Glad you liked it!
