Dearest Anya, I already carry a tragedy from the trenches and it's not a legacy I'd wish on anyone.

Was in the night, we heard the wail.

Was in our heads, we could not fail.

Was in the morning, I saw you fall.

Not long after the bugle call.

Was in my arms, you breathe your last.

Was in our hearts, the dye was cast.

Rest my brother, heed the call.

Hear His golden trumpet call.

Memorial Day, Rememberance Day for me, can produce meloncholy moments that then flow like enlightened tears into words that soothe the grief and memories hidden within my soul. It was your turn of words that guided my response and opened me to sharing something close to my heart. Thank you for the awakening.

Mark Twain is my Epictetus and teacher of post classical wisdom. His war poem:

O Lord God help us to

Tear their bodies to bloody shreds

With our shells, help us to cover

Their smiling faces with the

pale forms of their patriot dead,

Help us to drown the thunder of our

Guns with the shrieks of their wounded.

Mark Twain was satirically wise: “it’s not what we don’t know that causes our problems, it’s what we know that simply isn’t so!”

Wisdom: Add something each day and take away something each day.

War got rid of the ancient Persian king-worshipping culture, slave Confederacy, Nazis and phony Bushido Japanese. I'd say we are better off without them.

War is there to get rid off tensions that were building up during TIMES of so-called PEACE...

Peace can never be established without people ENJOYING a certain amount of liberty...

Peace cannot be permanent where it is enforced with the threats of violence when people that are VICTIMISED and ABUSED under such FALSE PEACE are pushed to a point where they don't care...

War is sometimes a NECESSARY EVIL to wipe out evils like NAZISM -- and there are already potential candidates like CHRISTIAN NATIONALISTS (or CHRISTIAN EVANGELICALS) that are NO BETTER that are going to walk that SAME PATH...

Peace and OPPRESSION don't work for TOO LONG...
