Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,
As Samuel Beckett once wrote, “The sun shone, having no alternative, on the nothing new.”
It’s maybe a slightly gloomy way of looking at it, but the underlining sentiment is true: the problems of today can almost always be seen in the past as well.
Even seemingly very modern phenomena like plagiarism can have its antecedents across history. Which is what we’ll be looking at in our upcoming LIVE event this week What is Plagiarism? on Wednesday January 17th at 2pm EST.
Anya will be joined by Dr. James Hankins of Harvard University, and Peter Adamson of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, to discuss what history can tell us about this very contemporary hot button topic.
Make sure to register for that HERE.
Can’t make it live? Simply register for the event HERE and you’ll be sent a recording afterwards.
Also, for more examples of how much of history is recognizable in the modern world, be sure to check out this week’s podcast releases…
Anya spoke with Sir Ferdinand Mount about ‘Big Caesars and Little Caesars’, looking at how the ‘Caesar’ personality is still with us…
And for our Members, we have a very colorful podcast about ancient animals with Professor Mark Usher!
