Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,
The Grand tour was a rite of passage for the curious and cultured, it was the 17th- to 19th-century adventure that turned wide-eyed aristocrats into worldly connoisseurs. They wandered through the ancient sites, their imaginations ablaze with the echoes of classical grandeur. This was not just a journey but a treasure hunt for art, knowledge, and that ineffable spark of inspiration.
Greece was a living classroom—where every site told a story, and every mountain pass whispered adventure.
And while today we are not young nobles donning frock coats and tricorn hats, setting sail across the Channel with trunks stuffed with journals and sketchbooks, we can still enjoy the benefits of the Grand Tour... especially to discover the great epics.
This is because Classical Wisdom’s 2025 tour is “In Search of Homer”.
Departing on June 5th, this land voyage will explore the world of The Iliad and The Odyssey to discover the meaning and value behind those great works...
And to help guide us, we have Emily Wilson, the renowned classicist, author, translator, and Professor of Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania joining this trip.
She has dedicated decades to comprehending Homer’s words, producing two fantastically successful translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey. From describing the places and illuminating the great ancient Greek concepts to breathing life into the characters and following their fates, surely there can be no one more qualified to understand Homer than Emily Wilson.
This trip actually sold out previously, but we have just been told there are a handful additional seats available... for those who act fast.
Make 2025 the year you enjoy the tour of a lifetime:
All the best,
Anya Leonard
